I'm excited to announce my lastest book, "Useful Pieces" coming soon! We are currently in the editing stages and after a complete read-through and edits, we'll be sending it off for a proof copy which we will go through again one final time. This is a long process but I'm expecting the book to be completed sometime this spring.
"Useful Pieces" will also soon be available for pre-order. Stay tuned for that announcement!
To give my readers a sample of what's to come, here is the opening to my newest book:
Sean stepped out onto the front porch. Fall was coming; you could always feel it in the air first. He inhaled deep, filling his lungs with the leaf-crisp air. He loved that smell. Decaying leaves he supposed it was; an earthy smell that he couldn’t get enough of. He hoped it wasn’t laced with mold; he could always smell mold in food products. Jill laughed at that because he would open a package of rotten chicken and think it smelled fine. But throw a little mold in there and he wouldn’t touch it. So salmonella ok, mold not ok. Of course he knew neither was good but he guessed his paranoia about mold had something to do with having read too much about it and how it can make you sick and if they are grown in the right conditions, can produce mycotoxins that are poisonous, the worst of which is aflatoxins that cause cancer. So yea, call him paranoid but he had done his research and wanted to steer clear of anything that had the slightest chance of having mold on it.

Join me and other authors at the Dover Library on Saturday, Nov. 2, at 2:15 - 3pm where I and a few others will talk about publishing a book. Since I just published my 8th book, I have had experience that any author could use to help in getting their book completed. Also, my publisher, Jim Fontaine from BBD Publishing, will be there with me and will share his expertise as well.

After all the editing and re-editing and finally ordering my copies of Deep Lake House and waiting to see that they've shipped....finally, they have shipped and will be here on Tuesday, October 22, 2024.
And now it is time to break out the champagne!

It has been a long time coming...well, at least 7 months since I gave my 8th book to my publisher to edit. And now with the editing complete, the cover nearly ready, the book is almost on its way to the printer for a galley copy to, once again, review and edit a final time before we print up copies available for sale. Phew! And then, close on its heels comes book #9, which has been even a longer time coming. That one was written in 2019 during NaNoWriMo - National November Writing Month - and then put on the back burner. But I kept thinking about it and just last year pulled it out and did more editing to finalize it for my publisher. That one will be coming out later this month.
The goal is to get these two books ready so I can start promoting them both. My plan is to have private home book discussion groups where I talk about my books, my writing process, and everything else to do with writing. I understand that most people have a book that they want to write 'someday'. I'm going to convince them that 'someday' is now! We don't know what the future holds so why wait to write your novel, or memoir, or childrens, or non-fiction book.

Althought it might seem like I wrote my next book, "Deep Lake House" in weeks since it has been only a few weeks since my last book "The Mart" came out, I was working on "Deep Lake House" while "The Mart" was going through final edits and reviews. So it took the better part of 2023 and the first two months of 2024 to complete it. I guess you could say I'm on a roll! Or, as my writing friend, Nancy, likes to say, I'm on fire! Which is appropriate for me since I am an Aries which is a fire sign!
