Althought it might seem like I wrote my next book, "Deep Lake House" in weeks since it has been only a few weeks since my last book "The Mart" came out, I was working on "Deep Lake House" while "The Mart" was going through final edits and reviews. So it took the better part of 2023 and the first two months of 2024 to complete it. I guess you could say I'm on a roll! Or, as my writing friend, Nancy, likes to say, I'm on fire! Which is appropriate for me since I am an Aries which is a fire sign!

Finally, my long awaited 7th Novel, "The Mart" is now available for purchase!

We just received two copies of "The Mart" that Jim and I will completely look through and make whatever last minute changes need to be made. Although tomorrow is Thanksgiving, I know Jim and I will be spending most of the weekend reading through "The Mart" ONE FINAL TIME!!! It is always suprising to me the little mistakes or edits that can be missed, no matter how many times we read through the book. And I don't even remember how many times I've read through the book, making edits along the way each and every time.

Sometime later today we'll be sending "The Mart" my latest novel (which includes a collection of short stories) to the printer to get our galley copies. Once we have those in hand we'll read through the entire book one more time, make whatever changes need to be made, and have the book printed and ready for purchase.

So the galleys are here...and Thanksgiving is over...and now the final editing begins.
Seems like a long process, doesn't it? That's because it is! The writing of the book, sometimes, is the easiest part. But the editing takes the most time and then getting the book into a format, and also creating a book cover; front, back, and the spine. Also in this particular book, I have lots of photos, some are family photos and others we created to accompany the memory. All of this, and so much more, is what is involved when you self-publish. You are responsible for every stage of creating a book to get it available for publication.
