Sometime later today we'll be sending "The Mart" my latest novel (which includes a collection of short stories) to the printer to get our galley copies. Once we have those in hand we'll read through the entire book one more time, make whatever changes need to be made, and have the book printed and ready for purchase.
This has been a long process and I'm so ready to get this completed and move onto the next book that I've been working on. I always have several in the works and right now I'm torn between two. One is a book I wrote during NaNoWriMo month (you write a novel in a month) called "Useful Pieces" (tentative title) and the other is again short stories that all come under one title "Deep Lake House". Both are appealing to me so I just might have to work on both of them at the same time.
Finishing a novel is such a huge accomplishment. I'm so impressed by authors who write one a year (for example, I just read about John Grisham starting a new novel each year on Jan.1). That takes quite a commitment. Right now I have at least a dozen books, from children's to pre-teen to adults to fables to non-fiction, that I am in the middle of writing. Therefore, I will never be bored. I just need to decide where I want to focus.
And of course, I hope, always, that I will find my readers and they will support all my hard work. For the price of about 4 Caramel Macchiato Grandes at Starbucks you can own a copy of my book. And you'll have it forever! I don't think that's asking too much! Support your local authors. We work hard for the money.
