A Little Literature (ALL)
I had this idea sometime ago - to share some of what I'm writing in my short stories and novels. I came up with the idea "ALL" - A Little Literature with the tag line being "ALL you need to read" - A Little Literature.
I also thought that this would be a great way to put some of my writing out into the world, a little at a time. You might get a paragraph or two. Or maybe an entire Flash Fiction story. But hopefully you'll come back for more. I welcome your feedback.
Sean stepped out onto the front porch. Fall was coming; you could always feel it in the air first. He inhaled deep, filling his lungs with the leaf-crisp air. He loved that smell. Decaying leaves he supposed it was; an earthy smell that he couldn’t get enough of. He hoped it wasn’t laced with mold; he could always smell mold in food products. Jill laughed at that because he would open a package of rotten chicken and think it smelled fine.
She was falling in love, she knew it and there was no stopping it from happening. They had been together for a little more than six months now and she was thinking he would be asking her to move in soon. She wanted to wait, not to rush into anything, but she knew deep down that she would say ‘yes’. The only drawback, if there was a drawback, was the amount of time he spent away. But he was in sales, and that is what people in sales did. They traveled, a lot. Sales technology to be exact, ie, big bucks! That meant, with her measly salary as an editor they would be able to buy a home soon after marrying and then have children and a beautiful home in the suburbs with their son and daughter going to the best schools, but she was getting ahead of herself. Way ahead!
The girl walks her dog through the park every day. She never meets anyone on her walk. Today she finds a small boy sitting alone on a bench. When the boy lifts his head the girl sees the tears streaming down his face. The girl takes the boy by the hand and together they leave the park. The dog sits on the bench, his leash hanging from his collar.
