A Wrinkle in Time by Madelyn L'Engle is a Newbury award winner that has been on my list for quite sometime and I'm glad I finally took the time to read it. There has been much praise for this book over the years and I just heard that there are plans to make it into a movie (it was made into a TV movie in 2003).
The story was interesting, involving two children in search of their dad, who is apparently lost on an unfriendly planet. The youngest child, Charles Wallace, has unusual powers and together with his sister, Meg, a friend, Calvin, and three alien protectors, who are indirectly trying to help them save their father, Mrs. Who, Mrs. Which, and Mrs. Whatsit, they encounter a variety of creatures, some frightening and others comforting and supportive. The outcome is as you would expect and hope it would be but not before the children all experience life-changing events.
I rate A Wrinkle in Time 5 out of 5 stars *****
