No, not a book. Not yet anyway. But something that will allow me the privacy and sanctuary I need to write without having to drive to an Inn and pay for a room, but just a short walk out my back door to what will be my "Word Shop"! I am beyond excited about this new project my husband, Jim, and I will be working on. I was calling it my "She-Shed" but I didn't really like the 'shed' part since it is going to be more like a work space for me. I thought about my "Writing Retreat", or my "Word House" (I almost decided on that name) and kind of liked that one. But while out on the golf course yesterday, "Word Shop" came to me. I voted for it, asked my friend Nancy to choose and she chose "Word Shop" and so did Jim. Jim is currently in the process of clearing the area of logs from a tree that fell on our property on our land that our neighbor brought up to us in his tractor, and now burning all the brush that was there. Then the area will be cleared, after we pull out a few weeds that have grown in.
Jim, as usual, has done a ton of research on building my Word Shop (I do like this name). We are going to work out the expenses to build it since I will be helping with the costs involved. I already have a huge slab of wood to be used for my desk and another beautiful piece for a coffee table. And then another set of wood pieces to put together for an end table. All of the wood was from the generosity of my friend, Shirley. Her husband had a woodworking shop where he made beautiful pieces of furniture and other items. He passed away a couple of years ago and now Shirley is selling all the wood. This is going to take some time but I plan on document the building of my Word Shop each step of the way!
